Chris Flanagan

Chris Flanagan is an experienced, award-winning anchor who joined the team in May 2022.

He co-anchors the nightly newscasts with Tasmin Mahfuz, Chief Meteorologist Janessa Webb and Sports Director Derek Forrest.

Chris has crossed the country during his distinguished television news career. He’s worked in San Francisco, Dallas, Cleveland, Indianapolis, Des Moines, Hartford, Vermont, Upstate New York and most recently, Boston.

While in Boston, Chris anchored the station’s weekend and then 4pm newscast and reported on many of New England’s biggest and most impactful stories, including the ‘Varsity Blues’ College Admissions Cheating Scandal.

He also anchored the station’s daily Covid-19 governor’s briefings.

Chris has a strong passion for politics. He has reported from the Democratic and Republican National Conventions, the Iowa Caucus and the New Hampshire Primary. Chris has also moderated an Iowa gubernatorial debate and co-hosted live Democratic and Republican Presidential debate specials.

Chris was on the air to cover the 2009 mass shooting at Fort Hood, Texas and reported from Cleveland when three women, kidnapped and missing for ten years, escaped their captor.

Chris began his career in sports and has covered the Winter Olympics, Indianapolis 500, a Super Bowl, several World Series and NBA Finals and the NCAA Basketball Final Four.

Chris has a heart for service and has been actively involved with various charities throughout his career, including the Jimmy Fund, Boston Cares and Variety The Children’s Charity.

Chris was born and raised in Connecticut.

He attended Colorado State University and Southern Connecticut State University.

Chris and his wife, Kristin, have three children.
