Colton Salaz is the nightside news producer & digital reporter for WDVM 25, who has worked in broadcast news going on 8-years. He is an accredited member of the SPJ and the NLGJA and adheres to their journalistic ethics standards.
One of the reasons he became a journalist is due to his deeply embedded passion for public speaking and the study of communication theories. While in college he joined the speech & debate team, where he won multiple national and international public speaking titles. Because of Mr. Salaz’s experience in college, he decided to pursue a career in journalism.
Mr. Salaz has worked all over the country as a news producer and reporter. He began his career in 2014 at KUSI in San Diego, CA. From there he went to Las Vegas where he was a producer for KTNV, and then a reporter and executive producer for CBS News Radio. He covered the 2018 midterm elections and has interviewed multiple presidential candidates during the 2020 presidential primaries. Some of his most notable interviewees include Former Sen. Kamala Harris, Sens. Cory Booker, D-New Jersey, and Amy Klobuchar, D-Minnesota.
While in Las Vegas, Mr. Salaz witnessed the horror of the nation’s worst mass shooting which occurred on Oct 1. 2017. Over 500 people were shot, and 50 were killed in a senseless mass shooting at Mandalay Bay.
