
Cory James is an Emmy-award-winning journalist.
He co-anchors DC News Now weekdays from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m.
Prior to joining DC News Now in May 2022, Cory worked as a general assignment reporter for CBS’ flagship station, WCBS-TV, in New York City.
Before moving to NYC, Cory was the weekend evening anchor for the ABC O&O in Fresno, California. During his time there, he received an award for reporting on a story that helped law enforcement track down suspects accused of beating and kidnapping a teenage girl.
Cory began his career in Santa Barbara, California as a reporter for KEYT-TV/KCOY-TV/KKFX-TV. His first story was the Isla Vista mass shooting that killed six people and injured more than a dozen others around the University of California, Santa Barbara campus.
Cory graduated from the University of Georgia. He majored in Digital and Broadcast Journalism and minored in Communication Studies. While in school, Cory interned at CNN and WSB-TV in Atlanta. When not working, Cory enjoys rollerblading, cooking (mainly eating!), and playing with his Goldendoodle named Kensington. He is excited to be in the Nation’s Capital and looks forward to exploring the DMV area.
