Shennekia Grimshaw

Shennekia Grimshaw is a traffic anchor/reporter for DC News Now.

She was born and raised in Takoma Park, Maryland, just outside of Washington, D.C.

Growing up, she always had a love for theatre and arts.

She began her career as an entertainment host for local blogs in Washington D.C. and covered a large part of the DMV including Frederick, Montgomery, and Prince George’s Counties. Her very first on-air job started at WDVM-TV in Hagerstown, Maryland.

Shennekia studied at Montgomery College before transferring to the University of Maryland, where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in English. She also worked for the Washington Commanders for more than seven years.

Shennekia has covered a wide range of topics, including the Biden/Trump 2020 election. Her reports also involved major stories, specifically extensive coverage of the death of Robert White –a black man who was killed by police while walking through a neighborhood.

When she is not reporting you can find her shopping, trying out new restaurants, traveling, or spending quality time with family. She’s a proud member of the National Association of Black Journalists.
