Parents know that back to school shopping can get expensive quickly.
That’s why the Montgomery County Coalition for the Homeless collected donations to help families who used to be homeless but are now living in permanent homes.
They serve about 150 families with 300 children, and the agency has a goal of ending family homelessness in Montgomery County by 2020.
“Our goal is to break that inter-generational cycle of poverty and homelessness. We’re very focused on, not just supporting the parents, but also supporting the children,” said Debbie Ezrin, MCCH.
MCCH will also help students throughout the school year with more supplies and by helping provide financial support for afterschool programs.
