There’s now an easier way to explore the 184.5 miles and 20,000 acres of the C&O National Historic Park. 

The C&O Canal Trust just launched a new mobile app, called “C&O Canal Explorer”.

It includes over 600 points of interest in the park mapped out in a search format.

It allows users to find hiking trails, historic sites, parking, and more.

The app also calculates the distance from a user’s location to nearby amenities and points of interest.

“This is a really important piece of our history, of the history of this country, and how it developed,” Heidi Glatfelter Schlag, with the C&O Canal Trust says, “So this app will teach people that, but will also give them a chance to get out and recreate with their friends.”
