MANASSAS, Va. (DC News Now) — One man is dead and another injured after a shooting that took place in Manassas on Friday night.
Police said Dalton Jakob Moore, 25 died at the scene of the shooting. They expected the other 25-year-old man who was shot to survive his injuries.
Police responded to a call at a 7-Eleven at Sudley Manor Drive and Williamson Boulevard around 8:30 p.m. They said the two victims were in the area when they were approached by the suspect.
After a brief exchange, the suspect shot both victims then left. One woman told DC News Now she is extremely concerned by the gun violence in her community.
“I play slots here every day. It’s like everybody’s family in the 7-11. Kids come in and out of here every day, and families like this, different random people, just come through. It’s sad that this is happening in Manassas. I don’t understand,” said Tanya Grene, community member.
Police said the person who shot the men left the area in a light-colored sedan and is described as being heavyset with short dark hair and a beard. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and shorts.
