Urbana Middle School honored one of their staff members who has been named Frederick County Public Schools Teacher of the Year.

Timothy Snyder has worked in the FCPS system for about seven years. He is a visual arts teacher at Urbana Elementary School.  His teacher of the year title came with a brand new car, and a warm thank you from students during an assembly on Tuesday.  Snyder says he looks forward to teaching his students.

“It was an extensive process, but I’ve told people along the way I remained true to myself the entire time, sharing my thoughts on philosophy on teaching who I am, what I try to bring to my classroom every single day, and that’s a positive light,” said Snyder.

Snyder says this was all a surprise for him, and he thought that he was going outside for a fire drill. He says he realized it was something more when he saw the cameras and all the students.
