UPDATE 10/21 — Police identified the victim in Thursday’s fatal shooting as 28-year-old Kenneth Morris III of Capitol Heights.

DISTRICT HEIGHTS, Md. (DC News Now) — A man was shot and killed at a BP gas station in District Heights on Thursday afternoon.

Police first responded to the BP at the corner of Chavez Lane and Walters Lane around 2 p.m. They found the victim, who was pronounced dead on the scene.

“We’ve seen a decrease in particular in homicides of the last month or so, so this one honestly hit pretty hard because we have been doing pretty well. … We look forward to the work that our police department will do and working with them to solve this case and to hold those who committed this offense accountable,” State Attorney for Prince George’s County Aisha Braveboy said.

Police were still on the scene as of 4:30 p.m. The victim was not yet identified.
