UPDATE (7:27 p.m.) — A 17-year-old student from Magruder High School is in custody after Friday’s shooting.

Police said that security first learned of a situation around 12:53 p.m. 911 was called for a student being shot around 12:57 p.m. The school went into full lockdown shortly after at 1:05 p.m.

A 17-year-old Magruder High School student is in custody following a shooting at the school on Friday, January 21, 2022.

Police found the suspect after a search around 3 p.m. They said they also found a handgun at this time.

The victim has been transported to a hospital in serious condition and is currently in surgery. The lockdown has since been lifted, and students have been dismissed from school.


UPDATE (3:55 p.m.) — Montgomery County Police have confirmed that a male student has been shot on school grounds at Magruder High School.

According to the school’s administration Twitter account, the high school is on lockdown.

The suspect is in custody according to MCPD.


UPDATE (2:31 p.m.) — Colonel Zadok Magruder High School is currently on lockdown.

Dismissal has been delayed and information will be released when available, according to the official Twitter account of the school administration.


ROCKVILLE, Md. (WDVM) — Montgomery County Department of Police are investigating an incident at Colonel Zadok Magruder High School where one student has been injured.

The student has been taken to an area hospital.

MCPD says there will be more information as it becomes available.
