According to officials with the Maryland Department of Natural Resources it was another successful season for bear hunting.

Over 100 hunters harvested a bear in a five-day hunt which was held in Allegany, Frederick, Garrett, and Washington counties. The largest bear weighted 575 pounds and was harvested by a man in Washington County, Md. A total of 135 bears were harvested in the following counties: Allegany County had 31, Frederick County had 2, Garrett County had 93 and Washington County had 9.

64 percent occurred on private land.
