Washington County financial planners have started crunching the numbers for the 2019 through 2028 improvement plan.
Chief Financial Officer Sara Greaves presented draft one of the budget that currently has $413 million allotted for projects that will improve county property like roads, schools and the airport.
Education funds take up the highest amount of the budget at 37 percent and road improvement and other, which is a catch all for miscellaneous projects, require the second highest amount of the budget at 20 percent, each.
Greaves said department heads are the backbone of the budget.
“Everybody that is involved in this plan is essential and is so critical to developing the best plan with the lowest cost,” said Sara Greaves, chief financial officer.
Greaves said she will present the final draft of the budget to commissioners in April.
