ALEXANDRIA, Va. (DC News Now) — The Alexandria Police Department said there was a heavy police presence due to two shootings on Saturday evening. The incidents happened within 15 minutes of each other.

At about 7:50 p.m., officers responded to the 3800 block of Florence Dr. A 26-year-old man was found suffering from gunshot wounds and was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Just 15 minutes later, at 8:05 p.m., officers responded to the 700 block of S Patrick St. Dozens of individuals riding dirt bikes, all-terrain vehicles, motorcycles and other recreational vehicles had gathered at two neighboring gas stations when people began shooting.

Officers said a victim was taken to a hospital in stable condition.
