987 elementary students are learning how to be the best version of themselves, thanks to a program called The Positivity Project.

Founded in 2015 by war veterans Mike Erwin and Jeff Bryan, the Positivity Project is a curriculum that introduces new character traits and virtues.

This week, Sangster Elementary School students learned about prudence. “It’s not a word that you would use a lot but when you stop and break it down like they do with The Positivity Project then it’s perfect,” said third grade teacher Jenny Brotemarkle.

Thanks to Principal Lisa Reddel, Sangster introduced its students to the project two years ago. “By giving students the common vocabulary of those 25 character strengths and virtues, they’re able to have the vocabulary and see it within themselves and recognize the content of character in others,” said Reddel.
