As prom season and winter formals approach, the Fairfax County Government is working to help those students get their fancy formal wear.

For the 17th year, the Diva Central Accessories Drive at both Reston Community Centers are collecting unwanted necklaces, purses, and high heels from people to give back to some lucky middle and high school students who are getting ready for dances of all kinds.
Officials say people have donated so many dresses from over the years that they are just collecting accessories and they’ll have plenty for students to choose from.

“Last year we had so many dresses that we didn’t need to get any this year, so we needed more accessories, so shoes, jewelry, purses, to go with their outfits. Donations started in December, I got calls from people wanting to drop off anything for the event,” said LaTanja Jones, event organizer.

March 30th students will be able to come to the Reston Community Center to choose from all of the free merchandise.
