FAIRFAX COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) — Virginia State Police (VSP) said Wednesday that a driver faces charges after he shot into a car on I-66 Tuesday, putting the driver of that car in the hospital.
VSP said Daniel L. Serrano, 24, of Alexandria opened fire after the other driver threw something at him on the interstate.
VSP said that troopers responded to I-66 in Fairfax County just before 1:10 p.m. on Tuesday after Serrano, who was driving a white Honda, and a man driving a black Honda pulled over near Mile Marker 50. Troopers took Serrano into custody.
The driver of the black Honda, whom medics took to Inova Fairfax Hospital, had serious injuries. VSP expected him to survive. A woman who was a passenger in the black Honda was not hurt.
If anyone saw the shooting or any interactions between the two cars beforehand, VSP asked that you call (703) 803-0026 or email questions@vsp.virginia.gov. Police said that both cars were Honda sedans and that the driver who opened fire was in a white one.
