College can be a tricky time for students, especially when they are the first in their families to go through it, that is why George Mason University is offering help. 

George Mason University launched their first ever First Gen. Summit aimed at helping first generation college students. The summit included speakers to talk about finances and budgeting as well an opportunity for first generation students to interact with other first generation students.
Event organizer says this provides support for those students.

“We appreciate them and that they can find sources of support and not have to sometimes struggle because if they don’t have parents that can talk them through how certain things at college work, we can have people here to help them with that,” said Nick Lennon, event organizer. 

The event was put on by the Leadership Education Development Office of George Mason University.
