UPDATE:

The deceased man found floating in a Woodbridge pond has been identified as George Eugene Greene, 39.

Prince William County police say the death appears to be non-criminal in nature and there is no need for public concern at this time. The cause of death will be officially determined after toxicology results come in.

Prince William County police officers are getting in touch with the family of a deceased man found floating in a Woodbridge pond Friday morning.

“At this point we are just trying to contact the family of who we believe this individual is to kind of get some background on who they were to determine what could have led up to this,” said Sergeant Jonathan Perok.

Perok says the police do not suspect foul play.

Shortly after 9 in the morning, officers responded to Pond Way and Park Lake Road off the parkway after a person walking by noticed a body floating on the pond.

Police removed the body and the adult male was pronounced dead on the scene. An autopsy will likely be conducted over the weekend to determine the cause of death.
