UPDATE 10/31 2:50 p.m. — Fairfax County Police confirmed on Monday that after receiving tips from the community, the three persons of interest had been identified.
BAILEYS CROSSROADS, Va. (DC News Now) — Police were searching for three persons of interest after a man was shot and killed in an apartment building on Sunday.
Police were called to the Skyline Towers apartment building on Seminary Road around 2:45 p.m. for a shooting in an apartment on the third floor. They found the victim in the apartment, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
“There was a short time when the complex or the apartments were under a shelter in place in order for the safety of everyone that was in here,” said 2nd Lt. James Curry with the Fairfax County Police Department.
Surveillance cameras captured three men fleeing from the building. Police released the surveillance image of the three men, who they believe are all in their 20’s, and asked the public for help identifying the three men.
Police did not know of any potential relationship between the three men and the victim as nobody involved had been positively identified as of 8:30 p.m. on Sunday. Police did say that there were no signs of forced entry and that it did not seem to be a random act.
“When these calls for service go out everyone responds. All of our resources go to making sure we find who’s responsible, but just as importantly, to making sure our community’s safe and that’s why you see the shelter-in-place orders,” Curry said.
“It is a matter of time before we know who you are and it’s a matter of time before you’re in custody,” Curry said. “It’s important that you turn yourself in immediately so we can hear what you have to say about what occurred inside.”
Police asked that anyone with any information about these men or the shooting call 703-691-2131.
