ARLINGTON COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) — Police said they found a driver who is accused of hitting a woman who was on foot, then leaving her with life-threatening injuries Monday night.

Tuesday, the Arlington County Police Department said the woman, Viviana Oxlaj Lopez, 52, died at the hospital.

Officers arrested 62-year-old Julio David Villazon.

The Arlington County Police Department tweeted about the incident on 2nd Street South at South Old Glebe Road shortly after 7:30 p.m.

Officers said they found Villazon and his vehicle based on witness interviews and evidence at the scene. They took him into custody at his home in the 500 block of 4th St. South. Police found his vehicle in the area of 8th Street South and South George Mason Drive.

Investigators believe alcohol was a factor in the crash. 

Villazon faces the following charges:

Involuntary Manslaughter

Hit and Run

Driving Under the Influence

Driving Revoked (x2)

He was in the Arlington County Detention Facility on Tuesday, with no bond.
