WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — Police said 17-year-old Jefferson Luna-Perez died Wednesday afternoon after someone shot him outside of Roosevelt High School.

Officers responded to the 4300 block of 13th St. NW around 2:25 p.m. for reports of a shooting, which the Metropolitan Police Department said happened in the school parking lot.

When they arrived, they found Luna-Perez who was a student at the school, unconscious. Medics took him to the hospital where he died. Officers found a gun at the scene.

Police said the high school went into lockdown as a result of the shooting.
