WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — The Metropolitan Police Department said Thursday that a man whom someone shot Wednesday afternoon died at the hospital.

MPD tweeted about the incident in the 900 block of Decatur St. NW at 5:12 p.m. Wednesday. The tweet said that officers were looking for a gray vehicle involved in the shooting had heavy tint.

The shooting, itself, took place shortly before 4:50 p.m. Police said when officers arrived at the scene, they found Aaron Derricott Jr., 24, unconscious. Medics took him to the hospital, but doctors were not able to save him.

D.C. Councilmember Janeese Lewis George tweeted about the incident and said that people in the area could share surveillance footage or information with the Metropolitan Police Department to help the investigation by calling (202) 727-9099 or texting 50411.
