A Mount Airy man is dead after losing control of his motorcycle on I-70 Monday night.

Maryland State Police say 19-year-old Dustin Curtis was traveling westbound just before 8 p.m. on a Harley Davidson motorcycle when he crashed into a guardrail ahead of exit 62.

Curtis was pronounced dead at the scene.

Crash Team investigators determined Curtis was racing at least two other vehicles down the highway just before the crash.

“The parties that were part of the [racing] contest were interviewed. We do not know at this time what charges will be brought forth later. But [Crash Team investigators] will be consulting with the state’s attorney’s office,” explained Lt. Wayne Wachsmuth with the Maryland State Police.

Troopers say the completed investigation will be presented to the Frederick County State‘s Attorney’s Office for review.
