A new clinic in Silver Spring is helping veterans in the Metro D.C. area with mental health issues.

The Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic in Silver Spring is the only one of its kind in the area. It’s designed to help veterans and their families as an alternative to going to a VA hospital for mental health issues. Not only does the clinic help veterans at little to no cost, it also helps those closest to them. In fact, 40 percent of those cared for in other Cohen clinics are family members.

“There’s still a stigma associated with, ‘If I get help, I’ll be seen as somewhat less than my peers.’ and really that’s not the case,” said Medal of Honor recipient Sergeant Kyle White.

The new clinic is located at 1420 Spring Street in Silver Spring.
