Chambersburg Area Senior High School is taking a page from the professional playbook with a new naming rights program.

This program will allow local businesses to sponsor certain areas of the school and rename them.

The first participant is 1st Ed Credit Union, which now has naming rights to the indoor track area of the school gym for the next three years.

District officials are hoping this will bring in money to benefit the students.

“It’s going to go back into programs that the students may not be able to have due to budget constraints and what have you. We’re able to support them. We’re able to buy new jerseys for the team, or we’re able to resurface the track when that comes up again,” said Brian Miller, Communications and Marketing Director, Chambersburg Area School District.

Miller said there are more than 30 other locations available for naming rights, including the school library and football stadium.
