Racing is coming back to Cumberland as a new promoter is on board to start races at the Cumberland Speedway next year.
In August, the county commissioners heard from a consultant that advised them to shut down the speedway due to it not being active for about five years.
Residents got together for fundraisers to support the track.
This week, Todd Broad signed a contract as the new promoter.
The commissioners said they have 16 dates set for dirt track racing.
The opening date is set for April 8, 2017 as practice for drivers in the area.
