Women from across the country celebrated Women’s Equality Day Friday by advocating for the Equal Rights Amendment.
Montgomery County residents joined with other women from around the country Friday, nearly 100 years after the 19th Amendment was adopted, giving women the right to vote.
The Equal Rights Amendment says:
“Equality of rights shall not be denied by any state on account of sex.”
Some advocates said many people don’t know that it’s still an issue.
“Many people don’t know about it, and they think that it was in the past. We have run into so many people, who once educated about it, are supportive,” said Montgomery County resident Holly Joseph.
On Saturday, the group will hold a rally at the Capitol at 1 p.m.
