20th Anniversary of Iraq War

Sunday marks the 20th anniversary of the Iraq war. A war that started with a vow to destroy weapons of mass destruction in Iraq and end the rule of Saddam Hussein. We speak with John Byrnes who is the Deputy Director of Concerned Veterans for America and also an Iraq war veteran. Byrnes discusses how many U.S. troops remain in the country and shares his personal stories when he was deployed to not only Iraq and Afghanistan. He also reacts to Senate repealing the 2002 AUMF against Iraq Resolution.

Maryland’s second-highest court reinstated the conviction and sentence of Adnan Syed, the man whose murder investigation and trial was the center of the hit podcast “Serial,” saying a lower court violated the rights of the victim’s family when it vacated his conviction last year.

Police said that around 11 a.m., another agency called Fairfax County police to the area for a welfare check. While officers were in the area, a woman approached them, saying that she had been abducted and that the suspect had just fled. Officers found a car nearby. There was a short chase, which ended at the scene of the barricade, Curry said.

Richmond Highway was still closed as of 10 p.m.
